We’ll be showcasing JUMP! with a jump rope demonstration, the Texas Avery Award presentation to Chris Wedge followed by a screening of Ice Age on Victory Park’s high-definition screens.

On Friday, March 28, join us in the Plaza at Victory Park as we celebrate the first full day of the 2008 AFI DALLAS International Film Festival. Bring your lawn chairs and get comfy! We’ll be showcasing some North Texas high school students’ short films followed by a screening of Lou Reed’s Berlin on Victory Park’s high-definition screens. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. And, if you’re an AFI DALLAS pass holder, join us in the Target Festival Lounge!

THROUGH THE LENS CLEARLY - ICONS AND IMAGES
Join AFI DALLAS and Neiman Marcus in a celebration of historical film treasures at an exhibition of holdings from The University of Texas at Austin’s Ransom Center. To be held from March 27 to April 12 at the Downtown Dallas Neiman Marcus flagship store, Through the Lens Clearly - Icons and Images will be a two-week celebration of film and fashion. It is free and open to the public.
Included in the exhibit will be iconic treasures from decades of movie history from the Ransom Center’s treasure trove of holdings. Highlights include: glamour photographs of iconic Hollywood stars, such as Greta Garbo and Cary Grant; storyboards and costumes from Gone with the Wind, including Scarlett’s curtain dress; Gloria Swanson’s annotated script for Sunset Boulevard; dream sequence storyboards from director Alfred Hitchcock’s Spellbound; drafts of screenwriter Ernest Lehman’s North by Northwest and costumes of actor, director, producer Robert De Niro, from such films as Goodfellas and Casino.
The Downtown Dallas Neiman Marcus flagship store is located at 1618 Main Street. Store hours are Monday - Wednesday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.. Thursday 10:a.m.-8:00 p.m., Friday-Saturday 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. The store is closed on Sunday.

On April 4th, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. join the AFI DALLAS International Film Festival and Community Partner Dallas Symphony Orchestra for a celebration of one of the favorite movie musicals of all time, The Wizard of Oz.
As the kick-off to the 2008 AFI DALLAS family programming, we are pleased to announce a partnership with the internationally-renowned Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Under the baton of conductor Richard Kaufman, the Dallas Symphony will provide the live symphonic score to the original voice audio. Delight to the voices of Judy Garland, Frank Bolger and others while you enjoy the live sounds of the Dallas Symphony. Voted #6 on the American Film Institute's list of 100 Years 100 Movies, The Wizard of Oz has delighted audiences since its release in 1939. Simply put, this is an event not to be missed.
